The Beautiful Mind

Dear Blog,

I want to share an epiphany that I just had.. the world around us is truly filled with endless wonders and that if you look closely, pay enough attention, it’s just rich with sources of inspiration and ideas.. It’s amazing at what you can find from the most simplest of things, to nature, people and life…

It comes to no surprise that some of the most beautiful architecture, sculptures and art were crafted from things that we’d normally wouldn’t give two thoughts about.. it just takes a bit of imagination and a whole lot of crazy.

I suppose it’s the same with creative ideas.. it must come from somewhere right?

It’s amazing what the mind can come up with if it’s tuned in correctly.. sensitive.

I’ve experienced being in the middle of conversations with a few dear colleagues and friends where random ideas, which some are strokes of genius (don't tell them that), oozes out from a totally unrelated topic inspired by something else.. if you’re quick enough to catch it, lucky you. If not, it’s just another missed opportunity to something that could lead to greater things. Just a thought.

I can’t say for sure if everyone sees things the same way, after all, red is red, blue is blue, a ball is a ball.. or is it? I can say this though, it is what your mind limits it to think it is.. and this is where the line is drawn between thinking and thinking creatively. It’s what you “see”.. The mind is such a beautiful thing.

Excitement in Everything

Compton St, London 2010
"A trap that was conveniently built to satisfy a good excuse.. "

So we’ve just bid farewell to 2011, and many greeted the new year in high spirits, wishing for a better year than the last, making new resolutions, renewing old ones, starting all fresh and the need for rejuvenation... I was no exception. I too jumped into the fray of thinking what’s to come..

“It’s a year to put back excitement in everything”, so I tell myself.

I was reminded yesterday by an old friend over lunch, that I used to have a very interesting past. I did all sorts of crazy stuff and life was very much colorful. Boy, did I live like there’s no tomorrow.. carefree.. no consequences.. no dramas, life used to be so fun.. so exhilarating.
That’s just it, life was filled with “life”.

Consumed with work, mellowed and matured somewhat, time seems to have just slipped through my fingers. Days turn to weeks, weeks turn to months, months turn to years, till one day, someone does the unexpected and smacks me in the head and I finally realised,

“where the heck did all the years go?!” “Where have all the excitement gone?!”

These days, being curled up in front of the TV, watching missed episodes of my favorite tv series, or a movie, with a bowl of popcorn in my lap, is in fact my definition of “excitement”.

I detest traffic jams, crowded malls are a nightmare and parking can sometimes be a great challenge to the unweary.. that’s me. Call it “signs of aging”, maybe it is, maybe it’s not, but one thing’s for sure, it’s all in the mind. A trap that was conveniently built to satisfy a good excuse. Any excuse for that matter. An excuse to deny one’s self from living life to the fullest.

Regardless if one is 29 or 39, there’s still a bit more room to bring sexy back into anyone’s life, if you will it that is..

Create excitement for yourself and naturally it will send waves of excitement to others. With a heart full of positive energy, two thumbs up and a wink, is my way to start the new year! A year that I truly hope to bring back excitement into everything I do.. and i believe that it’s not impossible.

Let’s just say, that I’ll be doing things these days with a wee bit more (Z)’lous.. ;-)

Happy New Year everyone!
